New Additions

These are the two new additions to our family. (Because we were not crazy or busy enough with the four of us, 3 dogs, and 1 cat). We bought Kaelin two horses during Spring Break. The horses live in Corsicana, so we don't get to see them as much as we would like.

Meet Conrad... He is a beautiful brown pony with a white face.

Meet Silas. Silas is a sweet little Shetland pony. He gets bullied around by Conrad, so he is a little timid. We are working on anti-bullying with Conrad. We will see if it works.

If you are asking yourself... who named those horses or how did anyone ever come up with the names Conrad and Silas for horses... That is the work of Kaelin. She orginally wanted to name them Sparkles and Lily, but seeing as how they were both boys, they got offended by the girly names. So, Kaelin had to go back to the drawing board.

Conrad is named after the little boy on The Cat and the Hat and Silas is a name of one of the Little Einsteins.

Kaelin is in love with her horses. She is looking forward to the day when she can ride them all by herself.

My beautiful girls

I was (was being the optimal word) on a quest to get a great picture of my two beautiful girls. All I want is one picture where they are both looking at the camera and have a sweet smile on their faces.

Is that really too much to ask?????

Take one... Macie it is not really that bad... your sister is not squeezing you that tight.

Take two... hey girls...the camera is over here. Look my way.

Take three... Macie... say cheese.

Take four... Kaelin... look over here.

Take five... at least you are both looking my way. Now can we get smiles?

Take six... hello... look over here

Take seven... again... the camera is over here.

Take eight... you are both looking my way, beautiful smiles is my only request.

Take nine... I am not sure what they were both looking at, definitely not the camera.

Take ten... I think we will just hang up the camera and try again another day.

The bunny came...

Continuing with my Easter post....

Kaelin got up SUPER early (in fact that lazy Easter bunny was still hiding eggs in the yard- she must have been up multiple times throughout the night with her baby bunny) just to see what the Easter bunny brought.

This picture is priceless. Macie has drool just dripping from her mouth. Maybe she was eyeing the chocolate Easter bunnies. That always makes me drool.

The Easter bunny definitely delivered some good stuff. Bathing suits, new paci's, a paci holder, a dress... so what does Macie have... M&M's out of Kaelin's Easter basket.

The Easter bunny came through for Kaelin as well. She racked up on bathing suits, short sets, a pot for her plant, and some Kat bars (Kit Kat bars, but Kaelin swears they are just called KAT bars) and M&M's.

Miss Priss getting ready for the big hunt

Notice the Easter basket hanging from the mirror on Macie's jeep. She has the right idea. She just kicked back in the jeep and let other people just come drop an egg or two in her basket.

Look... there is one in the middle of this plant.

Easter was exciting. We hunted Easter eggs, ate way too much candy, got to visit with Grandma Kay and PawPaw Bill, and then had to rush home to get ready for another week at work.

Easter Eggs

I am in the process of becoming a better blogger in regards to timely posts. So, I am cleaning out the camera and giving everyone an update. My blog is going to serve as a memory book for my babies, so I don't want to leave out these events just because I could not get them posted in a timely fashion.

Punctuality should probably be my New Year's Resolution next year, but I will probably still be late at everything I do. This has not always been my norm, but juggling crazy schedules and two kids has caused me to become this new predominantly late person.

NOT that I like it... but... it is what it is.

Back to the post...

We got to spend Easter playing on the farm in Corsicana.

The Easter egg dying station (notice we are outside in the shop). Even I know when something is a mess just waiting to happen (and it did).

The super star of egg dying. Kaelin is very adamant about her egg dying process. You must have a certain number of pink eggs. Yes, the blues and greens are pretty, but pink is the Easter bunnies favorite. (I am not sure how she knew this)

You can guess how this will turn out... A 6 month old with an Easter egg...

Daddy and his girls

This was the Easter egg that Todd was painting in the previous picture. Not to rag on his artistic skills, but this was suppose to be a horse. I told him it looked like a wild hog. You have to give him credit for attempting to be a part of the egg dying process.

Happy 5th birthday

My baby is turning 5 today. I truly don't know where 5 years have gone. It scares me to think about how quickly 5 years can pass, because now I know that another 5 years will come and go before I realize it.

Born May 16, 2006 at 9:00 PM. Weighing a whopping 7 pounds and being 18 inches long.

5 years ago, by entire world was turned upside down--- and I would never want it any other way

I really can't sum up my love for you, Kaelin. You are more that I ever dreamed of in a child. You have an amazing spirit about you. You can make me happier and madder than anyone on this planet.

Turning One...

You have the most giving spirit. You are more interested in making others happy than you are about being happy yourself. You would give the shirt off of your back if someone needed it. You are always looking for ways to make everyone smile. I love that about you. That is truly your gift. You are very intuitive. You can tell when people are happy, sad, etc. Your compassion is so strong. Most grown ups will never experience the compassion that you already possess. You are very independent, sometimes more that we would like.

Turning the terrific two's were all about finding independence... which we accomplished to perfection.

The twirling three's brought us so much fun and excitement

The funky fours... wow... that was a fun and challenging year. That was a year of testing the limits (and my patience). We survived it and are continuing to find the boundaries and just how far you can go with things. I loved this year and would never trade it for the world.

You are a lover of horses, your sister, and your family. Everyday, you put a smile on my face. Today you bring tears to my eyes as I think about how quickly these days go by.

What will the fabulous five's have in store for us...

Easter Party 2011

Yes... it is May 15 and I am just getting around to posting Easter pictures.

GRRRRR... work is consuming my time and brain power. Something has got to give...

This Easter party was at Kaelin's school.

Kaelin and her little friend Layla.

Warning to the Easter bunny: You are about to have a hoard of small kids crawling up your leg, pulling your whiskers, hugging your whole body so tightly that you might lose your breath for a brief moment, but just hang in there because the kids would be scarred for life if the Easter bunny passed out in front of them.

Happy 6 month birthday Macie

I start this just like I start every blog post lately... This happened a few weeks ago (but at least we are not celebrating 7 months before I even got around to posting 6 months).

Wow... 6 months. Time is flying quicker than I would like. I can't believe 6 months have come and gone.

Macie had a great 6 month check up.

She weighed 17 pounds (50 percentile in weight)

She was 22 3/4 inches long (50 percentile in height)

I had one of those MOTY (mom of the year) moments while celebrating Macie's 6 month birthday.

We were at a Mexican food restaurant, so there were witnesses to my MOTY moment. Plus my camera was having some flash issues, so the pictures turned out a little on the dark side. Macie was staring down the pretty cupcakes.

The temptation was just too overwhelming. She got a handful of cupcake (which included the fire from the candle). I think it scared her more than anything, but she still proceeded to let everyone in the restaurant know that she was not happy with whole ordeal. She screamed, screamed, screamed, and when we thought she could not scream any harder or louder, she surprised us with a whole new octave of screaming.

Mental Note: Keep fire and cupcakes just out of baby's reach.

Bonding Time

Macie's shirt just summed up my whole day.

Macie finally likes her sister... it is not just a tolerance anymore... it is true love between the two. Kaelin will do anything for her sister. The other day, I caught her teaching Macie how to play patty cake. (It will take a few more lessons for Macie to catch on, but Kaelin is a patient teacher).

I believe this is the beginning to a life long friendship...

Beach Trip #1 for 2011

We took our first beach trip of 2011 a few weeks ago.

Oh... Galveston... it has been a long winter and we have desperately missed you.

The beach is our summer staple. We make as many trips as possible. Even though the day was very overcast, we surprisingly all came home with a little sun burn.... and it felt great.

Woohoo... beach, salt water, and a sand castle... does it get any better (maybe a white beach and blue water- but we are not picky)

Macie's first trip to the beach resulted in a face plant in the sand. Now.. most babies would have cried, but she must be like Kaelin and I, and have salt water running through her veins because she laughed and then proceeded to try to eat the sand.
